Title: The CISSP Prep Guide: Gold Edition Publisher: Wiley Authors: Ronald L. Krutz, Russell Dean Vines Rating: 4/5 This is a great cissp prep book. But my only complaint is that the authors sometimes venture into areas, which are pretty, much off topic. Other than that, a winner of a book.

Title: Introducing Microsoft SQL Server(TM) 2005 for Developers (Pro - Developer) Publisher: Microsoft Press Authors: Peter DeBetta Rating: 5/5 There's about to be a new version of SQL Server. This book, based on the June 2004 beta level software, gives you the first detailed look at the new features coming in SQL Server 2005. While some features are likely to change before the final software is released, the broad view as given here is likely to remain pretty fixed. By this stage in the development of the new version, these points are well along. This book does not pretend to be a book on SQL Server, it is intended for the knowledgeable SQL Server user and covers only those points that have been changed for the new version. From what I can see, the big changes in 2005 are in Security, XML processing, and mirroring. Most of the other things, a few additions to T-SQL, some enhancement of notification and reporting services are included. Then again, I'm looking at it from what I do, you may find that you consider other features to be the most important. Knowing what those are is what this book is all about. It's certainly a timely book, now is when you need to start planning for the new release.

Title: Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Administrator's Pocket Consultant (IT-Administrator's Companion) Publisher: Microsoft Press Authors: William R. Stanek Rating: 4/5 The book doesn't go into too much depth on Exchange but it is a great little how-to book on many of the tasks that Exchange Admins will have to do when they install and maintain Exchange. I would highly recommend this as a quick reference to those of you who are familiar with Exchange, however, you might try a different book if you really want to get in depth though.

Title: Absolute Beginner's Guide to C (2nd Edition) Publisher: Sams Authors: Greg Perry Rating: 5/5 Greg Perry, wherever you are, I'd like to congratulate you! I've read some of the recent C teaching texts, but this book, even though it's six years old, has taught me more in an hour than what I learned in a day's worth of reading those other books. The abundant examples allows for frequent experimentation, and the book itself allows for any programmer "wanna-be" to really learn the language at his or her own pace. A must have for beginning programmers!
