Overrated book

I admit the book serves the purpose but the information can be obtained by the specifications and the examples are not as good as those found in other similar title book

A Great book for beginners

Perry knows how to clearly explain the C language and keep the readers interest. The chapters are concise and not overloaded. The language is very clear. The only problem is that he could have given a few mpre examples. Still deserves 5 stars for clarity.

Title: Thinking in Java (3rd Edition)
Publisher: Prentice Hall PTR
Authors: Bruce Eckel
Rating: 5/5
Customer opinion - 5 stars out of 5
one of the best java books! period!

There are many sources of Java literature and learning. Some in the form of books, some in the form online tutorials.
After writing technical articles for IBM, reviewing many of the online resources, and buying dozens of Java books, Bruce's 'Thinking in Java' is still my top resource.
Bruce not only presents the information in a readable style, but gives context to specific subjects, giving greater depth and meaning to what your reading.
If you are looking for Java language specifications, go to the java.sun.com site and download the specs. If you never programmed before, go take a programming course. If you want to start your career in Java, except the Java mindset, and buy the book. Java is very deep and wide, TIJ is just the beginning of a long and wonderful journey.

Title: Programming Windows With MFC
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: Jeff Prosise
Rating: 4/5
Customer opinion - 4 stars out of 5
Good Reference Book but not good for beginners

I must say that I do not agree with people like Mr David who can only mention how "bulky" this book is. Why then, is there an e-book version included with the book?
I've been working in the IT industry for 6 years now and never found a better book on Windows programming using the C++ language / MFC library. This book is EXCELLENT. It changes your view of MFC totally.
The author has an exceptional talent to explain concepts clearly and in detail.
This is a SIX star book!
