Title: Dynamic HTML: The Definitive Reference (2nd Edition) Publisher: O'Reilly Authors: Danny Goodman Rating: 5/5  This is not for true beginners, but it is a handy reference for those pesky HTML attributes or javascript functions that are so unforgiving if a comma, quote, or case is wrong. I refer to this very often. Do not buy this if you are looking for examples of complete code; this is just for reference.

Title: Beginning Visual C++ 6 Publisher: Wrox Authors: Ivor Horton Rating: 4/5  After picking up a couple of other books on programming with Visual C++, I came across this one. The explanations of the language are very good, especially classes which are covered by four chapters. Most of the code examples are, of course, trivial problems, but Mr. Horton did an excellent job of explaining what was going on. I guess my only complaint with the book was occasional lapses in explanation of what exactly the code is doing and why he chose to do it that way. Perhaps a more thorough discussion of the design aspects of programming would help. Of course the book is already well over 1000 pages. :-)

Martin Rating: 5/5 something which I can use - I am a linguist - and found it immensly readable and useful

Title: Routing TCP/IP Volume I (CCIE Professional Development) Publisher: Cisco Press Authors: Jeff Doyle Rating: 5/5 I primarily used this books as a reference for passing the BSCN exam but after reading through the entire book, I have learned much more than what was required to pass the exam. I still use this book for reference on my job. If you want to learn RIP, RIP II, OSPF, EIGRP, IGRP, IS-IS, policy-based routing,... there is no better reference than this book to get design and implementation information. Worth so much more than the price.
