Title: Beginning ASP Databases
Publisher: Wrox Press
Authors: John Kauffman, Kevin Spencer, Thearon Willis, John Kauffman
Rating: 1/5

This book is out of date

This book is seriously out of date. It does a great job of covering ASP, ADO, database connectons and so on, but there is only one part of one chapter (6) that covers the use of OLE-DB, Microsoft's newest technology that provides the connection and access methods between ASP web pages and databases. The rest of the book, and all the examples, use ODBC which is the older and now out of date method. ODBC was current at the time the book was written, and Mr. Kauffman does a great job of explaining it. However, it is now being replaced by OLE-DB. Also, if you are using Windows 2000 or XP as your development platform, you do not even have the (built-in) option to install ODBC. Instead, OLE-DB comes native with IIS 5.0 which is included with all versions of Windows 2000. Don't buy this book, unless you're still in the dark ages using Win9x or NT.

Title: How to Be Invisible: The Essential Guide to Protecting Your Personal Privacy, Your Assets, and Your Life (Revised Edition)
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books
Authors: J.J. Luna

The Best

Having read both of Mr.Luna's books on privacy,as well as many if not all of the other books published on the subject, and having placed many of his suggestions into practice, I still contend that his book is the best by far.

His suggestions are not only practical but legal as well.
Ideas present by other writers are not only questionable, but at the very least paint a bright red target on your back.

The fact that Mr. Luna keeps up on the ever changing world, and is up to date on what will and what won't work, and is willing to share this information long after the price of the book has faded
proves that this is the book to have if you are serious about your privacy.Thank you Mr Luna

Title: Programming Microsoft ASP.NET
Publisher: Microsoft Press
Authors: Dino Esposito

A good book for experienced programmers

This book covers a lot of in-depth information about ASP.NET 1.1. Its well-organized information is very useful for us to save precious time in searching and exploring. Thanks a lot, Mr. Dino Esposito.Suggestions for the author:(1) Use more graphical presentations if possible (could be more concise and organized)(2) Please add more real-world code samples!!! - a bit boring to read dry descriptions

Title: Essential System Administration, Third Edition
Publisher: O'Reilly
Authors: Æleen Frisch

Buy it and don't lend it to anyone!

Given that the System Admin topics can make for a 3000 page manual, this book does a great job of touching upon most aspects of SA within its page limit. This is greatly helpful when you do not wannt to waste time wading thru pages.
Room for improvement - some more verbage can be reduced, and some more commands in action can be introduced. The book is light on commands associated with networking that SA's would have to be good with. Similarly, disk management commands and disk array commands are becoming indispensable for SA's.
Great piece of work!
